Buff/Wax Project

This is the bulk of the work that we perform at Boat Snake. A buff/wax project looks to improve upon the quality/appearance of your gelcoat by removing oxidation with rubbing compound. After all oxidation, scratches & scuffs, blemishes or impurities on the surface have been buffed out to a high luster (shine), we follow up our work with a UV-Resistant wax to seal the smooth surfaces of gelcoat and add lasting protection.

Stainless Steel / Metal Polish

An essential service for any vessel with significant metal or stainless work. We will utilize a high quality metal polish that will remove any dirt or grime buildup, as well as any rust or tarnish on the metal. This will serve to provide the metal with a brilliant luster as well as a protective coating against future dirt/tarnishing.

Pressure Washing

Boat Snake offers pressure washing services for when your vessel needs just a little extra power to wash off the grime/marine growth. Our crew will use extra care to ensure that the correct pressure setting is utilized for each application, in order to avoid harming any potentially fragile areas of the vessel (canvas stitching, hatch seams/gaskets, doors & windows, etc) while washing down problem areas.

Interior Cleaning / engine compartments & bilges

For when the interior of your vessel needs some sprucing up, we offer light interior cleaning services to include: dusting & vacuuming of entire salon/cabin, stainless steel & metal polish, vinyl cleaning, full cleaning of finished wood to restore original luster (using Murphy's Wood Soap), as well as galley and head detailing. We can also perform light bilge/engine room cleaning & degreasing services, but unfortunately do not offer in-house steam cleaning at this time.

Teak cleaning

Boat Snake offers multiple service options for teak cleaning based upon your individual vessel's needs. It is recommended that you thoroughly clean your teak every 6-8 months to stay ahead of dirt buildup, marine growth, algae etc.

  • Two-Part teak clean / acid wash - This service is best for VERY DIRTY TEAK. We utilize a 2-part acid wash on the teak decks. Part A opens the pores/grain of the wood and allows ground in/built up dirt to be released without heavy duty scrubbing. Part B serves to neutralize part A and also closes the pores of the wood so that they are less prone to future build up. It is generally a good idea to keep this sort of teak cleaning to a minimum, as the acid wash can be hard on the wood. Once you have achieved the desired look/ cleanliness of your teak, it is much easier (and better for your decks) if you use less caustic means for scrubbing/maintaining your teak (see below).
  • Touch-Up / light teak scrub - This service is a gentler approach to teak cleaning and is recommended between full teak cleaning services to stay ahead of dirt and green growth. We utilize only mild soap and cleaning agents along with a soft scotch-brite pad to ensure that the grain of the teak doesn't become "grooved."
  • Teak Oiling - For those who prefer treated teak, we can also provide teak oiling services after the decks are thoroughly cleaned. This serves as a water repellent and as extra protection against dirt and grime (Note: Oiled teak will have a naturally darker appearance than non-oiled teak).
